Throttle Sleeve and Rubber Grip Diagram

Throttle Sleeve and Rubber Grip Diagram

Position of the throttle sleeve and rubber grip

How the throttle operates:

As indicated on the above diagram – the plastic throttle sleeve is located in between the handlebar tube and the rubber grip.

The plastic throttle sleeve allows the throttle to open and close with minimal resistance. Most of our  Kaoko Throttle Stabilizer kits are supplied with a plastic thrust washer that needs to make contact with this plastic throttle sleeve for the Kaoko to create enough friction to override the spring action of the throttle – hence keeping the throttle in any desired position.

Please see below for examples of the type of thrust washers used as well as what measurements are typically requested when we need to determine what washer you will require.

When the throttle sleeve is located INSIDE the rubber grip:

On the below image we have indicated what measurement is required to confirm what spigot washer will be required for a setup where the rubber grip is overlapping the plastic throttle sleeve (as shown with the red arrows).

When the throttle sleeve is located OUTSIDE the rubber grip:

On the below image we have indicated what measurement is required to confirm what recessed washer will be required for a setup where the rubber grip is overlapping the plastic throttle sleeve (as shown with the red arrows).
